Weekend Buddy is made by one person, so an email reaches the person who built it.

Feedback sent from inside the app (You › About › Send feedback) arrives with the app version and iOS version already filled in, which saves a round trip.

Common questions

Why does the app need full calendar access?

Because it reads events to build the weekend view. iOS also offers write-only access, but an app that can’t read your calendar would show every weekend as free. What it reads stays on the phone; the privacy policy lists the three things that do leave it.

Does it change my calendar?

Only when you ask. “Edit in Calendar” opens Apple’s own editor and the change happens on your Save. A plan with “Add to calendar” on is created as an event in the calendar you picked, and edited or deleted with the plan. Nothing else is ever written.

Where are my plans stored?

On your phone, and in your own iCloud if you’re signed in, so a second device matches. Which calendars count, and notifications, are set up on each device, and a new one asks for just those. There’s no Weekend Buddy account and no Weekend Buddy server. You › iCloud shows which it is right now.

Can I change which days count as my weekend?

Yes. You › Your weekend. Friday 5 pm to Sunday is the default. Shift workers, hospitality and four-day weeks pick what is true for them, and long weekends follow public holidays for the region you choose.

Where is “Spot the social ones”?

Only on an iPhone that can run Apple Intelligence, as a setting on the front page of You. On other devices the app sorts weeknights with its own rules. Either way, the social weeknights before a weekend are one line above it when you open that weekend. Tap the line to see them. Turn it off and only the obvious ones are suggested.

A weekend shows as busy but I’m free.

Open the weekend, tap the event and turn off “Counts as busy”. The event stays on the day without taking it. Declined invitations don’t count as busy unless you change that in You › Sources.

Does it cost anything?

No. The app is free, with no ads and no account, and nothing in it is held back. If you’d like to support it, the card near the bottom of the You tab has two ways: a Supporter subscription, which lets you pick the app’s colour and changes nothing else, and three one-off tips, which unlock nothing at all.

Reporting a problem

If something looks wrong, send: what you expected, what you saw, the app version (You › About), your iPhone model, and whether the weekend has events from a shared or subscribed calendar. A screenshot helps. Never send calendar contents you would not want in an email.
